Brown Bear at Dawn

Mammal Category Highly Commended, GDT - European Nature Photographer of the Year 2009

This image was taken on the Finnish/Rusian border an area as wild and remote as it gets in northern Europe. The conditions only lasted for about 5 minutes but it was a magical five minutes when for once everything came together, subject and light. As you can imagine alot of the shots were ruined by strong glare but on this occasion I think it worked.
