Starling formation Animals in their habitat Highly Commended, British Wildlife Photography Awards 2009 Last winter I spent four months visiting many different starling roosts throughout the UK trying to find the perfect location to photograph this amazing concentration of birds. I eventually settled on this one in southern Scotland which had over a million birds using the roost during the peak times. This image shows the huge flock twisting and turning to avoid the attention of a hunting peregrine falcon. |
