Animal Portraits Highly Commended, British Wildlife Photography Awards 2010
I also received a highly commended in the same category with this intimate portrait of a young Gannet chick. I was working on my mission for Wild Wonders of Europe and part of that mission was to document the large colony on Bass Rock. I had gained special permission to land on the Bass at dawn and by working in the early morning light it gave me a better chance to register the fine detail of the birds plumage.
