Image of the Month

At the end of Summer young Kingfishers from this years broods have to find a territory before the onset of winter. It really is a critical time of their lives because if they fail there life will be short. Most territories are occupied by adults so at this time of the year kingfishers can turn up anywhere, even garden ponds in urban areas. I once spent three months working on Kingfishers and I was very pleased with my images but it left me wanting more. I got the opportunity the increase my coverage by using a colleague's set-up, this location is great with three different birds using the stretch of small river where the hide is positioned. With this amount of birds I didn't have to wait long before one turned up.
